“We, though, are going to love—love and be loved. First we were loved, now we love. He loved us first.” – [ First Book of John 4:19 ]

“If you believe in love at first sight, you never stop looking.” – [ Closer : film ]

I have been reading and thinking about the concept of love. Yes love. In all it’s forms; agape, eros, philia, storge, xenia. More specifically I was thinking about love and religion.

“The glory of God is man fully alive.” – St. Irenaeus

Freedom! A word made famous by the heroic Scot, William Wallace… well at least in the Hollywood version anyway. There are many times in my life where I just want to shout out the same words as though my life depended on it; then again, maybe it does!

A Simple Life

A Simple Life

In many ways, whether wrong or right, I see myself as a simple man. I try to be straightforward, as transparent as possible, avoiding undue complexities in life. It’s not to say I’ve not had my share of pain and difficulties. This last month has been difficult. Leaning over the hospital bed I said goodbye to my beloved aunty, knowing that it could possibly be for the last time in my life.

A Tribute Relived

For some time now I have been contemplating merging my personal blog with my public one, having a central, more cohesive arena in which to get my thoughts down and hopefully with a more holistic approach to doing that. I’ve not put pen to paper for a few years since arriving back in Australia and it somewhat saddens me; saddens me perhaps in the way it would an old man who’s love in life was his wine yet had neglected to tend his vineyard, only to come back after a few years, knowing a part of his life was missing, to realise it had not flourished and had fallen by the wayside.

Kathryne + David

Kathryne + David

Kathryne and David are from Melbourne though had spent a portion of lives in Perth. Their Hyde Park wedding was sweet and simple! Turned out to be a beautiful day. I had a small team with me consisting of Jimmy Teo and Sam Kyte who also shot some fine art cinematography on the day – so keep and eye out for that.

Swing

Swing

T’was the wedding of Hannah and her man Rhys. The day was relaxed yet no holds barred with a full church girls’ choir, swing band, gourmet chefs, amazing décor, and a little dance performance from the couple themselves. The backyard tennis court had been converted into an elaborate setting of dining tables, mixed chairs, quaint cutlery and of course… a dance floor. It was the most amazing setup I’ve ever seen for a wedding. It was seriously like a scene straight out of the movie ‘Father of the Bride’ – minus the white geese.

Lisa + Andras

Lisa + Andras

I had the privilege of photographing Lisa and Andre’s wedding which was held at their home in Mount Lawley. Rae Marie assisted me in photography also that day – could not have done it without her. The reception was held at JoJo’s. Very nice staff they have there by the way.

Once Upon a Time

Once Upon a Time

When life was an adventure, men were chivalrous, and women kind. Love was everything.

The scenery is wonderful down south in Yallingup. It was the wedding celebration of Donna and Ben. Guests had flown in from various countries, most notably the UK. The weather was looking rather unpleasant the day before – wet and windy in fact – though all were hopeful that the day of the wedding would be ok. And it was. It was more than ok; it was beautiful…
